Trawling through Pinterest, it must be obvious that a lot of DIY ideas are just pictures that don’t link anywhere or don’t have any decent instructions behind them. So we decided to do something about that. We have gone through all of these DIY Dog bed links and they all link to the actual step-by-step instructions for making these dog beds.
(updated to add – this post is quite old, we continue to check the links, please let us know if any websites are no longer available and we will remove them from the list of dog bed tutorials)

So why dog beds?
Dogs, like humans, have a natural instinct to seek out a comfortable and safe place to rest and sleep. A soft bed provides a comfortable and cozy spot for them to relax and rest. Additionally, having a designated “place” or “bed” that is just for them can give dogs a sense of security and belonging. This can help them to feel safe and calm, and it can also help to establish a routine which can be beneficial for the dog’s overall well-being.
Furthermore, dogs are territorial animals by nature, and having a designated place to call their own can help them to feel more secure and in control of their environment. By having a place that they can claim as their own, they can feel like they have a place of their own where they can retreat to and feel safe.
Moreover, a bed that is soft and comfortable can help to alleviate any joint or muscle pain that the dog may have, especially in older dogs, it can also provide insulation from cold flooring.
Dogs like a soft bed and a place to call their own because it provides them with comfort, security, and a sense of belonging, which can help to improve their overall well-being. Hope we really didn’t have to tell you that, but there you go.
