15 Amazing Seashell Wreaths You Can Make Yourself

January 3, by Shellie Wilson. Leave a Comment

This roundup is for 15 of the best door wreaths using seashells. You can use store-bought seashells if you are looking for something more uniform and bleached white or use seashells you have found on the beach for a rustic more natural finish.  My favorite is the starfish wreath and you can buy those perfect white starfish here.

Most of these wreaths are created with a wreath form, wire, rattan, wicker, and even cardboard. You can also use a pool noodle for a bulk thick look and wrap the pool noodle with twine or moss to cover the base, then apply the seashells on top as normal.

Is it legal to take shells from the beach? For the most part, it’s perfectly legal to collect seashells from beaches provided they are not occupied by living creatures, however, make sure you check the rules for your own state and country.  Interested in learning about which shells are okay to take? check out this guide on Ethical shell collecting, and how to take shells without making an impact on the beach and it’s ecosystem.

So apart from representing nature and the ocean did you know that seashells also have symbolic meaning too?  Shells are said to improve travel luck and deepen distant ties because of their connection to the sea, which links far-off locations. In feng shui, placing seashells in a basket is thought to be lucky.

Placing sea shells on a window sill will attract good energy.

Seashell hunting is a budget-friendly ocean activity that allows you to explore the shore with your kids. When collected responsibly of course.
