30+ DIY Items For Your Entry Or Mud Room

August 10, 2021 by Shellie Wilson

Entry rooms, also known as mudrooms, are not just the first thing that house guests see upon entering your home. It’s also the first place where you can take a moment to collect yourself after a long day or prepare yourself for a new one. An entry room should be a combination of practicality, beauty, and functionality. This is why I have compiled a list of over 30 of my favorite DIY home decor ideas for entry rooms.

One of the key aspects of an entry room is storage. After all, you need a place to store your shoes, coats, bags, and other essentials. This is where a DIY bench seat with storage comes in handy. This project is easy to do, even for those who have limited DIY skills. You can use an old bench or build one from scratch and add some storage compartments underneath for your shoes and bags.

Another great way to add storage to your entry room is by creating your own hooks, hangers, and shoe shelves. You can use old wooden hangers and paint them in your favorite color, or use wooden dowels to make hooks that you can hang on the wall. If you’re feeling more ambitious, you can build a shoe shelf using wooden boards and brackets. This will not only give you a place to store your shoes, but it will also help keep your entry room neat and tidy.

When it comes to decorating your entry room, you want to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. One way to do this is by adding some plants or flowers. You can place a small potted plant on a table or shelf, or hang some hanging plants from the ceiling. This will not only add a touch of nature to your space, but it will also help purify the air.

Another great way to add some warmth to your entry room is by adding some lighting. You can install a chandelier or a pendant light over the table or bench, or add some wall sconces to the walls. This will not only provide additional light, but it will also add some style to your entry room.

You can also add some art to your entry room. You can hang a painting, a print, or a mirror on the wall. This will not only add some color to your space, but it will also create a focal point that will draw the eye and make your entry room feel more inviting.

In addition to these DIY ideas, there are many other ways to decorate your entry room. You can add a rug, curtains, or a patterned wallpaper to the walls. You can also add some decor items such as vases, bowls, or baskets to the table or shelves.

In conclusion, your entry room is an important space in your home. It’s the first thing that guests see, and it’s the first place where you can take a moment to collect yourself. That’s why it’s important to make sure it’s practical, pretty, and functional. With these DIY home decor ideas, you can create an entry room that you’ll love and that will make your guests feel welcome.

Having coat hooks  by the door allows you to grab and go when rushing out the door of a morning, and of course coats hanging up dry faster and prevent you from trudging wet coats all through the house. If you have wet coats consider placing a small tray or thick rug to soak up the moisture that will drop from your coat. If you love pot plants, under the raincoats is a great way to soak up water whilst keeping them moist.  Perhaps making a small succulent garden that sits underneath would be fun too.

You can also buy these drip rack trays  to place under your coats.
