We all need some fun craft projects in our life, and if you’re looking to make something, now is your chance with these colorful, amazing windchimes. These wind chimes are made from different materials some of them are made from recycled kitchen items such as forks and spoons. Cutlery or silverware is great for windchimes as they are heavy and make a great clanging sound in the wind.
I have to admit I am a little sound sensitive so I am not a big fan of clanking tinny-sounding wind chimes, but apparently, my neighbours are as they have a set on their patio. I am still trying to work out how to use a sling shot to get it to the ground. Not time
I love being inspired by other artists so make sure to check out some of the amazing wind chime designs on Etsy

Old Cutlery Wind Chime
Making a wind chime out of old cutlery is a fun and creative DIY project that can add a unique touch to your home or garden. Not only does it repurpose old items that may have otherwise gone to waste, but it also creates a beautiful and melodic piece of outdoor decor.
Materials:
Old cutlery (forks, spoons, and knives)
Scissors
Hammer
Nails
Twine or string
Scrap wood
Steps:
- Gather your old cutlery and choose the pieces you’d like to use. Try to find a mix of different sizes and shapes for a more interesting chime.
- Clean and dry your cutlery. You may want to sand down any rough edges to make them smoother.
- Cut your twine or string to varying lengths. The length of the string will determine the tone the cutlery will make when it chimes.
- Using the hammer and nails, make a small hole near the top of each piece of cutlery. Make sure the holes are big enough for the string to fit through.
- String the cutlery pieces onto the twine, spacing them evenly. You can also experiment with different arrangements to find the one you like best. Tie a knot at the end of the string to secure the cutlery in place.
- Cut a piece of scrap wood to use as the base for your chime. Nail the end of the string with the knotted cutlery to the center of the wood.
To finish your chime, add a hanger to the top of the wood so you can hang it from a hook or tree branch. You can also decorate the base with paint or stain if desired.
And that’s it! Your DIY wind chime made from old cutlery is now complete. Hang it outside and enjoy the gentle, soothing sound it creates in the breeze.
