Amazing Eclectic Bohemian Style You Can Create At Home

January 3, 2018 by Shellie Wilson

I came across this amazing house on a local Kmart/Walmart style FB page. I instantly fell in love with it! I loved it so much I had to track down Brandi and interview her to delve into her mind.  Of course, someone with this amount of talent isn’t just a nobody who I tripped across, she has a following of over 26K on Instagram and with a house like this, it is no wonder.

Grab a cup of coffee in your Eclectic missed matched cup and read how you too can style your home like this.

Q: Your home design is amazing! Where did you get this talent for layering styles?
I wish I had the answer to that question. I’ve been styling rooms since I was a kid and always trying new layouts & designs and I guess over the years I’ve gotten better.
Q: Where do you think your eclectic style comes from?
This might sound cheesy but I think my style comes from within. I’ve always been a bright, happy & bubbly person and attracted to fun & colourful things so I like to reflect that in my home. Eclectic style seems to match my personality.
Q: What or who inspires you?
Nature inspires me. As much as I love colours in my home I always try to incorporate natural elements such a wood & metals.
Q: Do you feel that your home design is complete or is it ever changing?
I have 3 kids so I think my home will be ever changing as they grow but I’ll always keep my eclectic style.
Q: What are three of your favorite pieces? (pieces we can see in the photos)
Oh this a hard one as everything I buy, I love! I’d have to say my original Parker coffee table in the playroom (I scored that baby off Gumtree/online sales site), the mid-century cabinet in the playroom (also a Gumtree find) It was painted gloss black so I spent a good day and a half sanding and paint stripping that baby back to its original form. It’s wood veneer so it was a delicate process as I didn’t want to sand any of the veneer off. What a tedious project that was!
And lastly would have to be my black Marrakesh bedhead. That was my first ever ‘brand new’ home decor splurge. It was only $300 but to me, that was a lot as all of my decor pieces I’d purchased off Gumtree or in op shops.
Q: How can others achieve this look? Do you have any tips?
I find when working with colour, you want to pair one prominent decor piece with 2 or 3 other small items in the room. For example, if you are working with a large pink rug you could add pops of pink in a throw blanket or a cushion or even as simple as a pattern on a basket. This will create flow.
