Amazing Swedish Dishcloth Review

May 22, by Shellie Wilson. Leave a Comment

If there is one thing I have learned in lockdown is that we need to re-use things a lot more. We have written several articles about all the reusable items for your home and kitchen and you can read some of them here.  Paper towels, sponges, floor wipes and even toilet paper.

So how about the sink? Kitchen sink cloths have a known habit of getting slimy, smelly and darn right disgusting, I mean how many times have you picked up a sponge or cloth from the sink and gaged a little? How many re-usable sink or dishcloths do you actually throw out? I had purchase one pack of 5 cloths from an undisclosed brand at the beginning of lockdown. I figured it was more than enough for 6 weeks without shopping.  Turns out we threw those cloths out at the “yucky” stage a whole lot more than we realized because we ran out by week 3.  So on the prowl for new cloths we went, we wanted something long-lasting and biodegradable too.

These Swedish dishcloths are anti-microbial which means the fibers of the cloth naturally repel bacteria. So that’s a big starting factor to consider when looking for a brand. It’s a lot easier to keep them clean from bacteria when they are developed to do just that.

Each cloth can potentially be reused hundreds of times and last for up to 12 months. How do they last so long? They are durable and can withstand washing.

You can throw these cloths into the dishwasher or washing machine to clean them.  I love the idea of running the cloths in the dishwasher every few days to help keep them clean, that has to be easy enough for even my kids to do right?

My kids have a habit of using the kitchen sponge on the floor when they spill something and throwing it back into the sink, my aim with these cloths is to get them to put it into the dishwasher straight away so I know its dirty.

The other fun fact about these cloths is the soak up 20X their weight in liquid. We are about to get a puppy, so guess what cleanup cloths we will be purchasing, Don’t worry,   our puppy will have his own coloured cleaning cloths, and we won’t use the dishwasher to clean them, well I won’t,  I can’t promise my kids won’t shove them in there with their breakfast dishes. But then we have to assume my kids are actually going to clean up doggy spills, which in itself is highly unlikely right?

These swedish dishcloths also have the potential to be hacked or craftified! Yep! you can paint these dishcloths, use fabric markers on them and even sew them together to make large soak pads or create randomly cool crafty items.  They don’t fray so can be cut into shapes if you want to get  extra creative.
These Swedish dishcloths are made with plant-based cellulose viscose and cotton and for anyone who knits or crochets their own dishcloths you know the importance of Cotton yarn when making dishcloths.

You can purchase these dishcloths via Amazon, I have to say the grey is my favorite as it matches my kitchen decor and we are getting yellow for the yellow peepee from the dog.
