Farmhouse Craft Decorations You Can Make At Home

I love the farmhouse-style decor look, not only because it looks rustic but because it allows for imperfections. Imperfections are a part of life and smooth unmarked wood is not how I see life. I love wood with knots, scratches, and ridges. When it comes to farmhouse style it is the perfect decor style for anyone who loves to DIY, whether it is to bring out your creative juices or because you DIY because you are frugal or unable to purchase all those fancy pottery barn items.  The farmhouse-style decor has to be the easiest DIY style there is for your home.  So what is the hardest part of making your own farmhouse-style furniture?  Making it not perfect. For some people that is actually harder than it sounds.

I recently asked my father to assist me (make it for me)  in making a rustic farmhouse end of bed bench. I kept showing him wood and he said, no thats too rough or no, that’s got marks. In the end, I pulled a piece that had been laying in the garden with cracks, greyed with aged and weathered. He couldn’t believe that this is the rustic style I wanted.
