For HGTV¹s David Bromstad, Halloween is one of the best times of the year. It allows him to release his alter-ego as a creative fiend, aiming for what he calls “spooky-chic.”
Despite not having a true autumn in his home of South Florida, David loves to get into the Halloween spirit his own way. This year, his go-to DIY décor piece is an adorable pineapple jack-o-lantern. This tropical twist on the traditional pumpkin carving is prepared the same way: core and hollow out the insides of the pineapple, keeping the crown of the pineapple intact.
Below are some photos to show you a step-by-step tutorial.
You can carve a face, shapes or words whatever gets you in the ghostly spirit. David suggests going the traditional route, but encourages any sort of design to make your jack-o-lantern the most unique on the block. Place a candle inside and you have yourself an unexpected, tropical Halloween!
