There are so many people who are buying old homes and updating them into modern and beautiful places to live.  One of the major bonuses of getting into an older home is the built in fireplace.  However, because of the age of the home, the characteristics and look of the fireplace and surrounding mantel definitely show it’s age.

    I have what is called a Franklin stove. It is a free standing fire place. Has a nice glass in the door so you can see the fire burning and even has a blower if you want to send the heat further out into the rooms. Looking for any and all ideas on how people decorate around this type of fire place.
