DIY Valentine’s Day Tablescapes Ideas

January 26, 2019 by Vikram Goyal

Valentine’s Day has always been a time for couples to celebrate their love, and for us, it’s a day to reflect on the bond we’ve built over the years. In the early days of our relationship, we couldn’t afford to splurge on expensive dinners or lavish gifts, so we got creative and started creating our own special moments at home. One of the ways we made the day meaningful was by crafting a romantic tablescape for our Valentine’s Day dinner or lunch. It became a tradition, and over time, it’s evolved into something we look forward to every year. Setting the table with thoughtful touches, from cozy candles to sweet little details, has become a way for us to slow down and really appreciate each other, without the need for extravagant spending. Now, it’s just part of how we celebrate this special day, and it holds so much meaning for both of us. Whether you’re on a budget or just prefer to stay in, creating a warm, intimate atmosphere at home can be just as romantic, if not more so, than any fancy dinner out.

Tablescape is an odd word and for those of you that do not know what it means – essentially it is how you decorate a table for a special occasion such as Valentine’s day.

Creating a romantic table does not have to be expensive or time consuming, creativity is a must however.

Look around your home, your garden or online to find items and ideas for your tablescape.

Some ways to go may be:

Selecting a theme to base your items around such as angels or love hearts.
Looking for a romantic tablecloth such as one made of lace.
Using a beautiful planter as a centrepiece. Many people have small cupid statues in their gardens.
One can never go wrong with flowers or rose petals.
Set a place at the dinner table with beautiful napkins and handmade place cards.
Light it up with small votive candles.
You many want to use a lot of candles as they can transform a room while giving it a romantic atmosphere.

As Valentine’s day is a holiday often associated with sweet treats such as candy and chocolates you may want to consider making some items in your tablescape edible for example chocolate hearts placed appropriately.

Head on out to a stationary or craft store and get your hands dirty with a little papercraft. Some stores already have lovely papers and kits you can use. If this is not the case look up some Valentines Day craft ideas online and get to work.

Some Christmas items can be transformed into inexpensive Valentines Day items you can use due to the fact red is used a lot during both holidays.

Those of you who have some time may want to origami your own paper roses with coloured card. Or even use one as a gift, it’s an inexpensive gift that will not wilt.

If you are on a budget and looking for some great vintage gear with a touch of romance hit the thrift stores and see what you can find.

Valentine’s day is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with the one you love and a romantic decorated table is an inexpensive and fun way just to make it a little bit more special.
